The idea around this is to be able to pull a report for each of your clients to see how much time was actually spent per client. This type of reporting would be useful not only for consultants but in house IT staff. The ability to tell how much time is spent on each issue and also the ability to have a accurate time breakdown would help considerably when you are doing your billing.

with some setup and administrative efforts it should be possible to automatically calculate time spent using question statuses: http://www.crmdesk.com/help/3.4.3.aspx
question custom field could be used to store manually entered time, though currently it can not be summarized in reports: http://www.crmdesk.com/help/3.4.2.aspx

I promote the automatic calculation of time every time the status changes. That means for each status time should be gathered and added up, and then presented in e.g. a report.

As a software development shop, better tracking of our support time by client would be very useful.
