Status change logic
There are two status groups: "Awaiting staff response" and "Awaiting user response"
(as seen on the Setup-->"Question status" page).
According to the system logic, after you reply, the status should belong to the "Awaiting user response" group, and vise versa.

If the status was already from the right group, then the system will not change it, even if it was not a default status from that group,
however, if the status belonged to an "opposite" group, it will be switched to a default status from the relevant group.

If this is the case, and you would, for some reason, like to keep the status in the "wrong" side, then you may press a "Note" button and set any status manually.
